Day 05 / Day 06
Did I skip a day? Just in case…
Day 05 - Favorite memory from childhood: Learning about sexual tension with Barbie ad Ken.
Day 06 - Five favorite songs: Oh, shit, this is rough on so many levels (in case you didn’t know, music is my religion). Hmmmm, I’ll go with whatever I’ve been obsessing with as of late…
“Make This Go On Forever,” Snow Patrol

Burlesque Class #5: Makeup
Thought I knew a good amount about battle paint, thanks to high school theater class. But burlesque confirmed what I always suspected, that makeup really is an artform all of its own. Our lovely teacher taught us how to accentuate our features, while keeping in mind things like stage lighting, movement, durability, etc.
This is obviously not an everyday look (well, maybe the eyes), but...

Day 04 - Ten Places you want to visit
K, this didn’t say whether or not said places had to be real, so:
Middle-Earth (namely, The Shire and Lothlórien)
Hogwarts
Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters
Empire Records
Endor
TRON City
The Batcave
Pleasantville (yeah, that B&W town from the ‘98 movie)
Pandora
And, uh, I guess all of Europe.

Day 03 - Hometown location and facts
Well, I was born here:
But only because that’s where my dad was stationed at the time as a Marine.
But as for the place that I spent the bulk of my childhood, that would be Fredericksburg, VA. Far cry from the pics I’ve been shown of Hawaii, but it was a good childhood all the same.

Day 02 - How you got your tumblr name
Quixotic*Exotic: Originally, this was going to be the title of a Blogger project with one of my illustrating friends (I’d write a poem, she’d illustrate), but the school year kinda go in the way. The project was dropped, but the name stuck in my mind. Always thought it’d make a good title for one of my future book of poems/satiric essays.
As for where the name came from/what it...

That Thing bookishbelle/Zoe's Filling Out
WELL. I already have one Tumblr project going on (30 Day Tumblr Project, see prior two posts). BUT I liked these questions, so I’ll answer ‘em all at once by turning them into a word association game of sorts. GO!
A few things you will never forget in 2010: My first time parasailing; graduation; Brandon Flowers concert; burlesque; growing some (figurative) balls and finding a job outside of...

The 30-Day Tumblr Project
I was going to do this at the start of the New Years, BUT I don’t really believe in waiting for the New Year to do/try new things, SO here goes. Thanks to Kate (http://katedarling.tumblr.com/) for the idea. <3

– Snow Patrol, “Hands Open”
Some don’t understand my attachment to lyrics. But then there’s lines like these. Sometimes, music tells me what I know, yet exactly what I need to hear.

Sometimes the past seems too big for the present to hold.
– Chuck Palahniuk
Adults are only grown-up children.
If someone’s adult enough to make their own decisions for the better, then the same can be said for the reverse.
I’ve established long ago that wisdom is determined by experience and observation, not age. So, the capacity for mistakes (or the potential for such) is, likewise, ageless.
The best I can do is grit my teeth, throw on my earphones and just let it pass. Not my place to...

Make This Go On Forever →
Snow Patrol sadly does not have a video for this song, so I had to settle for a fan’s X-Files version (click title to see video). But srsly, beautiful thing, this song. I think I’m on the 8th loop? Haha.

Neon Tiger
I had put in my two weeks’ notice at both jobs earlier this week; but throughout today, various people have come up to me at both jobs, commenting on how “lucky” I was, “to be getting out.”
I was really struck by the envy and bitterness in their voices. How many people work at jobs they hate, yet accept it as their livelihoods? Prolly a disheartening amount. But...
