Whether or not you’re a “Fifty Shades of Grey” fan (or of Gilbert Gottfried’s voice, for that matter)…this is totally worth your time.

Mah berfrend posted this on my FB wall. Snicker.
Currently reading: Fifty Shades Freed, E. L. James
Finished the second one this weekend, half way through the third now.
And LOL to that mug (“Hot Reader”); Ana would approve. ;)
I don’t care that Fifty Shades of Grey started out as a “Twilight” fanfic, ok?
No, it’s not the best writing (like “Twilight”).
No, the characters aren’t the most believable/relatable/likeable (like “Twilight”).
Yes, things can get predictable/redundant (like “Twilight”).
But it is dark. It is definitely erotic. And it gave my gut some surprising emotional punches. Plus, BDSM has been something I’ve quirked a brow at for a while, so it was lovely to indulge in someone else’s fantasies (which I may have to borrow whenever i see Chris again).
Additionally, as an aspiring writer, this gives me hope. If something can start out as a tribute, but then morph into its own Goliath, then I find that encouraging.
Anyway. I’m not saying the book is intelligent or even necessarily worth the hype (like “Twilight”). But I do very much see the appeal.

While the prose is occasionally English 101 at best, the premise is very enthralling. I started reading last night, and couldn’t wait to get home from work to continue.
But be forewarned: this isn’t for everyone.
It focuses on the carnal aspects of sexuality and psychology. S&M, dominance/submission, etc. Which intrigues me, but could appall many others.
Whoo!
