So, I don’t get official breaks where I work. I honestly don’t notice, because it’s a fast-paced environment. Anyone can take a breather when s/he really needs it, but as far as I can tell, my company’s “rule” is that if you’re working for 7.5/8+ hours, you can take a 15 minute break. But there’s maybe less than a handful of people that even do that.
But since several people have expressed concern to me about the legality of said situation, lookie here:
Q: Does an employer have to provide employees breaks or a meal period?
A: No, unless the employee is under the age of 16.
So, there ya have it! Thanks for the concern, but I’m not being abused. ;)
I’ve heard some people say that they want to leave Virginia (and other affected states) ever since the madess of the ultrasound bill and personhood bill.
I think your disgust and frustration is definitely warranted, but I have to ask: what will moving solve? It’s the same thing as closing your eyes and avoiding an issue.
If you don’t agree with something, you can turn your head, or you can fight against it.
Want to voice your disapproval? Then do it. Call senators, governors, participate in protests, let your voice be heard. But bailing won’t solve anything.
Problems have a way of following people, anyway.
Besides, I feel like that’s only adding insult to injury. It’s like telling everyone else that shares your views, “Yeah, this really sucks, but you’re on your own now. Sayonara!”
Whatever’s going to happen is going to happen. We may not want it, but we can live with it…though we don’t have to do so silently.
So, suck it up, people. Put on your battle gear, or sure, get the hell out.
Let’s see what you’re really made of.
It didn’t pass, but damn, she’s got truth and moxie.
Why, yes, that is a life size-ish pirate Lego man!
World of Mirth is easily my favorite toy store, btw.
Thanks for the pic and for a wonderful day, bestie!
Found on a phone booth in Cary Town.
This is the view of my city from a look-out point, down the street I live on.
When people think of Richmond, they don’t commonly think of Belle Isle. But it’s a gorgeous place, filled with friendly (drunk) people of all ages. Hadn’t been there in a while. So glad we went.
Richmond has had some wicked bipolar weather this week….
THIS is what my brother sees from his balcony in Ljubljana, Slovania.
I look out my window in Virginia, and see a dirt road.
